Friendica always felt "clunky" to me. It's highly configurable, but very retro. No way I could get friends to use it, especially instead of Facebook.
Verizon offers some very basic parental filters on their routers (for free) and some premium filters (for a fee), but if you have a little technical savvy, NxFilter and/or Pi-Hole look to be as good or better.
@RazorsKiss Haven't tried funkwhale; I'll have to check it out...I've played around some with AzuraCast.
